Travellers fly from their selected airport to OR Tambo International Airport, where the Go Trip guide will meet the group before travelling through Heidelberg, Standerton, Perdekop and Volksrust to Wakkerstroom.
Departing from the EC or GRD
Guests fly from their selected airport to OR Tambo International Airport and meet the Go Trip guide before continuing by road to Wakkerstroom.
Departing from GP
Travellers depart from designated central collection points in Pretoria and Johannesburg.
The group then travels by road through Heidelberg, Standerton, Perdekop and Volksrust to Wakkerstroom.
Departing from KZN
Travellers fly from their selected airport to OR Tambo International Airport, where the Go Trip guide will meet the group before the journey to Wakkerstroom.

The group will stop at suitable places where guests may purchase lunch or something light to eat.
Flight Information
Flights are not included for travellers flying to OR Tambo International Airport.
Go Trip can assist with arranging flights for an administration fee of R50. Airline fares remain subject to availability and may change at any time.
Accommodation and Room Sharing
The tour price is based on two guests sharing a room.
A single supplement of R950 applies when one guest occupies a room alone. The supplement is payable with the deposit and may be refunded if the traveller later finds a suitable sharing partner.
Travelling alone but willing to share? Indicate this on the booking form. Go Trip may be able to introduce you to another solo traveller looking for a suitable sharing partner.

Wakkerstroom Wetland
Explore one of the southern hemisphere’s largest natural wetland systems.
The protected area covers approximately 1,000 hectares and includes four bird hides, providing excellent opportunities to observe waterbirds, reed birds and shallow-water waders in their natural habitat.
Guided Birding Excursions
Join a local birding guide for full-day and early-morning excursions through wetlands, vleis, grasslands and forested areas.
The route and birding locations may change according to weather, seasonal conditions and current sightings.
Grassland Specials
Wakkerstroom is particularly well known for sought-after grassland species.
Possible sightings include Rudd’s Lark, Botha’s Lark, Yellow-breasted Pipit, Blue Korhaan, White-bellied Korhaan and Southern Bald Ibis.
Forest and Open-Country Birding
Explore routes towards Dirkiesdorp and other nearby habitats.
Look out for Secretary Birds, Amur Falcons, Long-tailed Widowbirds, Bush Blackcaps, Chorister Robin-Chats, White-starred Robins and Sombre Greenbuls.
